Actually a "Titer Test" is a blood test to determine if your wonderful furry pawed BFF has enough anti-bodies for a particular vaccine, to avoid over vaccination. Most experts world wide agree that over vaccination leads to illness and can lead to early death. Rodney Habib is a wonderful Pet Wellness expert and has a great site full of information, www.Petplanet.com For a clear understanding and explanation of Titer, my go to Doctor is Karen Becker, DVM NMD. Dr Becker's postings are concise, informative and come from a Veterinarian well versed and respected in the Pet World. This has become a very hot topic for us the Pet Parent and the Veterinarian and the LAW.
We must acknowledge here that it is the LAW to have your Dog or Cat Vaccinated, however this LAW has not been changed since the 1950's (in California) and I can't speak for all of the US or other Countries, but it seems to me with the strides that Medical Science has made today, that this LAW should be revisited. Most Scientist and Researchers agree and there is an undercurrent within the Veterinary community as well.
There is no reason that Fiona (Cavalier King Charles) at 15.5 lbs should have the same dose as a Mastiff at 140-175 lbs. It just makes no sense. Please investigate before giving that Booster your Vet recommends and be sure to do your own research before vaccinating.
